Fox Lake:

Bernard “Bernie” Jahns, age 68, formerly of Fox Lake, died peacefully early Friday morning, April 3, 2020 at Bay Harbor in Beaver Dam where he currently resided.

Bernie was born in Dodge Co. the son of Bernard and Gladys (Hecht) Jahns. Bernie enlisted in the U.S. Army on Dec. 27, 1968 having served in Europe-Germany until his discharge on Dec. 23, 1971. While serving Bernie proudly took additional courses and became a 1969 graduate of Horicon High School. In 1984, he received his associate’s degree in Marketing from Moraine Park Tech Institute. Bernie was united in marriage to Carol Ronkowski in Horicon on Sept. 13, 2003. He worked for and retired from Metal Craft in Mayville. Bernie was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding his Harley. He participated in many motorcycle fundraisers for charities and was a member of HOGS for Dogs. Bernie was a member of Robert W. Ginther American Legion Post #521 in Fox Lake. Bernie will be remembered for his patriotism by wearing t-shirts that always had an American flag on it or the sweat shirts he wore to show his love of his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.

Bernie will be sadly missed and mourned by his wife, Carol of Fox Lake; his children, Kyle Jahns and his child Evhan; Pam (Adam) Cousineau of Beaver Dam and their children, Madalyn and Rylan; Geoff Jahns of Beaver Dam and his child Jonathn; his siblings, David (Barb) Jahns of Fox Lake, Tim Jahns of Beaver Dam, Linda (Gary) Griepentrog of Beaver Dam and John Jahns of Michigan; nieces, nephews, several other relatives and dear friends.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Andy Jahns.

Thank you to the staff at Bay Harbor for your continuous care of Bernie.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
