Obituary for Lois S Hendrickson

Cambria:

Lois S. Hendrickson, age 91 formerly of Cambria, died peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

A Mass for Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Doylestown with Father Garrett Kau officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Tuesday evening, April 23 at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria from 5 to 7 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of services. A funeral luncheon will be served at the Cambria Fire Dept. Community Center immediately following the committal service.

Lois was born at home in Doylestown on Sept. 9, 1927 the daughter of Daniel B. and Rozella (Gorman) Slattery. She attended Engle Country School and was a 1945 graduate of Randolph High School. She worked at Farmer’s & Merchant Bank in Columbus and then with Equitable Insurance in Madison. While at a dance, Lois met the love of her life and was united in marriage to Donald Hendrickson on June 3, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Doylestown. Together they farmed on the out skirts of Cambria, raising a family and were active with the local 4-H Welsh Prairie Livewires with their children. Lois worked outside of home with Michigan Fruit (Del Monte) Canning Co. for a number of years both seasonally and then fulltime in the office. She finally retired after 28 years with the National Exchange Bank in Cambria. Although she retired, she continued to help with chores on the family farm, alongside of her sons and grandsons. Lois enjoyed dancing and traveled near and far to follow the “Don Peachy Band’ over the years. In her free time, Lois loved to follow her grandson’s in all of their sporting events and with her granddaughter to her horse shows. Lois was a member of Cozy Corners Homemakers club and was also a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Doylestown.

Lois will be sadly missed and mourned by her children, Joan (James) Farrington of Rio, Philip Hendrickson of Cambria, Janet (Gary) Walker of Kingston and Neal (Pam) Hendrickson of Cambria; nine grandchildren, Denise (Curt) Wheeler, Andrew (Mackenzie), Daniel (Mandy), Timothy (Jessica), Michael (Jessica), Christopher (Sara), Allan Moll, Joshua (Jenny) Walker and Jeremy Walker; 20 great grandchildren with one on the way; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, several other relatives and dear friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don on July 22, 2012, her daughter-in-law Elaine Hendrickson; a brother Glen Slattery; a sister Eileen Slattery; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
